The company was founded in 1991 as  Super Vision International  and has been manufacturing products for architecture, landscape, signs, pools and spas, stages and spectacular displays all over the world for over 16 years.  From the beginning, the company has been committed to serving the global lighting industry with over 80 Manufacturers Representatives and 40 International Distributors serving over 75 countries.
In 1994 Super Vision became a publicly held company and is listed on the NASDAQ stock exchange. 
In 2000, the company began expanding its product development efforts into the emerging technology of Light Emitting Diode (LED) lighting systems.

The successful introductions of its Flex-LED system and Galaxy Pool light lead to further development and the launch in 2004 of the Savi brand of LED products and controls.

As the company evolved, it became  clear that the future growth opportunities that presented the most favorable return for our shareholders lie in the emerging advanced lighting technology arena including LED’s, quantum-dots and laser diodes.

In April of 2007, the company formally changed its name to Nexxus Lighting, Inc.
The word “nexus” means link or connection and our new vision is simple … To connect advanced technology with light … for customers all over the world.  With the development and expansion of our SAVI brand of products and solid foundation of the Super Vision brand for fiber optic lighting, Nexxus lighting is committed to growth through the development of advanced lighting technology to reduce energy consumption and provide superior lighting solutions to the global lighting market.

In November of 2007 the Orlando Operations facility brands of SAVI, SUPER VISION FIBER OPTICS and OASIS WATERFEATURES were consolidated into a newly created business unit called SV Lighting.
